Love and miss you always.                                                                                                                                             Love your little girl,
                                                                                       Billie-June

Connie was born March 28, 1949 to Conan and Thelma McFadden of Portland, Oregon. Conan worked his entire career as an engineer for Union Pacific Railroad. Thelma raised 6 beautiful girls in Dalles, Oregon. Connie graduated high school at Dalles High. She worked various jobs helping her first husband through college at Oregon State. She has a son, Jeff Beck of Oregon, and daughter, Stacey Williams of Oklahoma, from previous marriages.

She moved to Sitka in 1971 where she met and married her husband William R. Tonsgard Jr. Connie worked with her husband in the construction, logging, and refuse business. Connie was one of the first women truck drivers to be successful in that profession. She attended two years of classes at the University of Alaska Southeast before starting a family, with her first born being; Annabelle Layne Tonsgard, followed by Glorianna, William the III, and Billie June Marie. Her children were her golden achievements and she loved them more than anything else in her life.

Connie was an avid writer of poetry, short stories, and screen plays. She earned numerous awards for her writing, art work, and sewing. She earned the Homemaker of the Year Award at the Alaska State Fair three years in a row. Connie suffered a serious head injury in 2005 and had struggled, at times, over the past ten years, and was stricken with cancer in 2015 which took her life.

Connie had unwavering faith in God and truly believed she would be dancing with the Lord when she left this life. Her family is heart broken for her absence in our lives but she told us to celebrate because she knew she would be with God. Her family will have a private celebration amongst her immediate family.

Connie is preceded in death by her parents, Conan and Thelma McFadden, sister Cheryl McFadden, and granddaughter Jezzabelle Nashoanak.

She is survived by her husband, William R. Tonsgard Jr., and her children, Stacey Williams, Jeff Beck, Annabelle Tonsgard, Glorianna Tonsgard, William Tonsgard III, and Billie June Tonsgard. As well as 14 grandchildren and sisters, Billie McFadden of California, Barbara Summers of Oklahoma, June Hansen of Oregon, and Patty Morris of California.
